How percentage change works

Change = (new − original) ÷ |original| × 100. The absolute baseline makes the sign show increase or decrease.

Try an example

80 → 100 = 25% increase.

Good to know

A zero baseline is undefined. Negative baselines use the absolute-baseline convention.
