How Image Dimensions Inspector works

Reads decoded pixel width and height, MIME format, byte size and aspect ratio.

Try an example

1920 × 1080 pixels has a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Good to know

Pixel dimensions do not determine physical print size without a print resolution. JPG, PNG, WebP and browser-decodable AVIF inputs (named converters require their stated source format); 25 MB and 24 megapixels maximum. Output is a single still frame; animation, source colour profiles and metadata are not preserved.

Your privacy

Processing happens on this device for this tool. We do not upload your input, put it in share links or save it to your favourites. Closing this tab discards the working input; downloaded results remain wherever you save them.

When this tool is useful

Use the dimensions inspector when you need the exact pixel size, format, file size or aspect ratio before another image operation.

How to use it

  1. Choose a still image from your device.
  2. Read the decoded width, height, format, bytes and simplified aspect ratio.
  3. Use the result to select a resize preset or document the asset’s original dimensions.

Checks before you rely on the result

  • Pixel dimensions describe the digital image, not a guaranteed physical print size.
  • Orientation metadata can affect how an image is displayed by other applications.
  • The file is decoded locally and is not uploaded.

This page is maintained with the tool implementation and its deterministic tests. If the result looks wrong, report the issue with a non-sensitive example.
